 TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR THE ALDI PLAY RUGBY STICKER COMPETITION 2023

The below sets out the contractual terms and conditions on which primary schools may enter the Aldi Play Rugby Sticker Competition and in which one primary has a chance of  winning prize money of €50,000 to be used for sports facilities for the school, ten primary schools are in with a chance of winning prize money of €5,000 each to be used for sports facilities for the school. The competition is open to primary schools in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. 

1. INFORMATION ABOUT US  

Aldi Stores (Ireland) Limited (“Aldi”) wishes to promote rugby as part of a healthy lifestyle in Ireland. The Aldi Play Rugby Sticker Competition is developed by Aldi and the winning schools will be announced in May 2023.

The Aldi Play Rugby Sticker competition (Aldi Play Rugby) will commence on the 16th of January will finish on the 23rd April 

2. HOW TO ENTER THE COMPETITION – REPUBLIC OF IRELAND PRIMARY SCHOOLS  

All primary schools in the Republic of Ireland, that submitted a poster as part of the Aldi Play Rugby Sticker Competitions in 2023, will receive two Aldi Play Rugby poster packs with information and a  leaflet in the post during the week commencing 9th of January Primary schools, that did not submit a poster as part of the Aldi Play Rugby Sticker Competitions in previous years can, from 9th January apply online for a poster by visiting www.aldi.ie/playrugby

Aldi customers in the Republic of Ireland who spend €25.00 or more in one transaction will receive an Aldi Play Rugby sticker in store. If the single transaction amounts to or exceeds €50.00 the customer will receive two stickers and so on. The customer should then give his or her child/niece/nephew/neighbour etc the sticker(s) to bring into the participating primary school. 

The last date that Aldi Play Rugby stickers can be obtained in stores in the Republic of Ireland is the 23rd April.

3. PARTICIPANTS FROM NORTHERN IRELAND ONLY (INCLUDING PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN NORTHERN IRELAND)  

Residents of Northern Ireland may request up to a maximum of eight stickers each calendar month, without the need for purchase, by availing of the following method: Send an Aldi Play Rugby request to the following address:

Participants will be required to provide:

  1. Its, his or her full name;
  2. postal address including postcode;
  3. an email address or telephone number; and
  4. a stamped self-addressed envelope.

4. COMPETITION RULES AND PROCEDURES  

The Aldi Play Rugby poster should be on display in participating primary schools (location at the discretion of the management of the school) and each sticker should be added to the Aldi Play Rugby poster. 

Each participating primary school can have no more than ten Aldi Play Rugby posters in the primary school at any one time. Once a participating primary school has completed an Aldi Play Rugby poster and submitted  it (as outlined below), it may request additional Aldi Play Rugby posters on www.aldi.ie/playrugby

The last date that primary schools in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland can order an Aldi Play Rugby poster is the 14th April.

When the primary school has collected 300 stickers and its poster is complete, a poster with 300 stickers, the schools full details including school roll number, the test of skill on the poster answered and the schools poster entry number will be eligible for the draw. The decision of Aldi will be final in this regard. 

Completed entries comprising of the poster with 300 stickers and fully completed details should be submitted by the primary school by taking a picture of the poster in full, with all details visible and uploading it to www.aldi.ie/playrugby

Please retain the original paper copy of your poster as the winning school will be required to present the original poster.

The closing date for primary schools submitting an entry is 27th April. Primary schools may enter the competition multiple times by completing multiple posters of 300 stickers each. However, eligible entrants cannot win more than one prize within the competition. Late or incomplete entries will be disqualified. Aldi will not take any responsibility for any technical failure or malfunction which may result in an entry being delayed, lost or not properly registered or recorded. 

The application should be made in the name of the primary school. The entry submission must be accompanied by all of the information found at the bottom of the poster. Any entry without all of the required information will be deemed not to be a valid entry and will not progress in the competition. 

All eligible entrants will receive one Aldi Play Rugby kit (subject to availability) for taking part in the promotion

By entering into the competition, the winning primary school consents to be part of any publicity surrounding the competition free of charge by Aldi in all media, including but not limited to, television, radio, promotion and all social media and internet for the purposes Aldi wishes. 

5. PRIZE DETAILS AND CHOOSING THE WINNER  

There will be one winning primary school who will each receive prize money of €50,000 to be spent on sports facilities /equipment at the school.

There will be an additional ten primary schools who will each receive prize money of €5,000 to be spent on sports facilities /equipment at the school. 

The draws will be held on a date in May 2023 exact date to be confirmed. The draws will be overseen by an independent adjudicator. Winners will be notified by phone at the nominated phone number provided. Prizes are as stated, no cash alternative will be offered.

The result of the draw is final. No correspondence relating to the competition will be entered into. 

6. KEY PRINCIPLES OF THE WINNERS’ AGREEMENT  

When the winning school has been selected to receive prize money of €50,000 or €5,000, the board of management must enter into a contractual agreement with Aldi in the form appended at Appendix 1. If the winning school cannot be contacted or does not sign up to the agreement at Appendix 1 or take any other required action to claim the prize within one month of the draw, Aldi reserves the right to offer the prize to the next eligible entrant selected from the entries validly entered before the closing date. 

The winning schools consent to appear in promotional media coverage (without compensation) on the Aldi website or Aldi operated social media accounts or television / press advertisements as relevant. 

Aldi is not responsible for printing or typographical errors in any promotional materials relating to the Aldi Play Rugby Sticker competition.

7. LIABILITY 

Aldi will not be responsible for any loss or damage which is not foreseeable or which is outside of Aldi’s reasonable control in relation to the Aldi Play Rugby Sticker Competition. 

No responsibility or liability will be accepted by Aldi for entries that are not received or that are lost in transmission for any reason. Proof of sending or transmission will not be accepted as proof of entry. Incomplete entries will be invalid. In the event of any dispute including but not limited to entries the decision of Aldi will be final. 

8. PRIVACY 

The Aldi Play Rugby sticker competition page and registration for the Aldi Play Rugby sticker competition is hosted by Return to Sender on behalf of Aldi.   

The details of the Aldi Play Rugby sticker competition entrants will be processed by Return to Sender, Charlemont Exchange, Charlemont St, Dublin, D02 VN88  and any personal data which Return to Sender,  collects from entrants or that entrants provide to Return to Sender, will be processed by Return to Sender, Charlemont Exchange, Charlemont St, Dublin, D02 VN88   in accordance with Aldi’s policies and will be shared with Aldi. For the avoidance of doubt, Aldi is the data controller and Return to Sender is the data processor. For more information please see our privacy notice at www.aldi.ie.

9. CANCELLATION 

While Aldi will use every effort to ensure the Aldi Play rugby sticker competition is open until the intended closing date, Aldi reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Aldi Play rugby sticker competition in whole or in part at any time. Aldi reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions. Any amendments will be published on the website at www.aldi.ie/playrugby. Aldi will endeavour to give 7 days' notice of such a cancellation, termination, or suspension. If this is not possible Aldi shall give entrants as much notice as it reasonably can.

10. APPLICABLE LAW 

These Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or their subject matter or formation (including non-contractual disputes or claims) shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Ireland and the Courts of the Republic of Ireland will have exclusive jurisdiction in relation to any disputes.
